In July, 2004 we set up shop on our patio and proceeded to craft the kitchen components. In the third week of October we finished our project. Of course there were delays and distractions in between as we had to give attention to everyday tasks that come along in everyday living.
After long discussions with Carol, Cal designed the kitchen and crafted it, finally completing it. The material is a combination of birch and maple to gain the effect desired. The finish is a special "Cal" mix beginning with Salem Maple commercial stain. Carol chose the hardware which compliments the cabinet exclusively. Together we arrived at the finished product.
Needless to say, we are proud of the outcome. After enjoying our finished task we have since forgotten all the cutting, sanding, staining, the dirt, the grime, the dust and the lack of summer use of the patio - all of which is necessary to arrive at the final goal - - the finished kitchen.
We have prevailed !
